413 Elite Hosts Draft Combine in Anticipation of Second Season
By Colleen Large
During the last weekend in July, the 413 Elite hosted a Draft Combine under the leadership of newly appointed head coach, Champ Godbolt. Players from all over the country attended the two-day showcase representing Florida, Georgia, California, New York, and, of course, New England. As excitement continues to build for 413 Elite’s second season in the American Basketball Association (ABA), the Combine also welcomed past 413 Elite players ready to brush up on their game.
On Saturday, July 29, the Combine began at the Springfield Boys & Girls Club on Carew Street in Springfield at 8 a.m. Throughout the morning, players participated in offensive and defensive drills, and one-on-one and five-on-five competitions. In the afternoon, players made their way over to Best Fitness in Springfield for a weight room work-out. Best Fitness is a sponsor for the 413 Elite during the 2023-2024 season, joining other committed supporters, like The Republican, Ciro’s Restaurant, Stretch & Massage Therapy, and a few others.
The players were really able to showcase their passion and skills on Sunday, July 30 as the second day of the Draft Combine was filled with ABA regulation play.
The 413 Elite is looking forward to finalizing their 2023-2024 team and welcoming in new talent from New England and abroad.
