SAN JUAN, PR- The Caribbean International Shootout basketball tournament held in Bayamón San Juan, PR, in July had teams from Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos, the Virgin Islands US, the Greater Springfield area of Massachusetts representing USA, and of course, the local teams of Puerto Rico.
The 413 Elite clinched the Professional/ Open Division Championship, and ended their tournament participation with an undefeated record knocking off teams from all over the Caribbean.
This was a first in many ways for the organization. The players roster that went to San Juan, Puerto Rico were as followed. Johnathan Bell, Joseph Meade, Jerry Buchanon, Jovan Ruiz, Jerome Porter, Shyquinn Dix, Lewis Jennings, Sam Dorissaint, Mikey Pettway, Marvin Leveille. The team was organized and coached by team Owner SirCharles Evans. This was the 1st Time a Professional Team from Springfield Mass went International and Overseas to compete. It was also the 1st Time a Professional Team from Springfield Mass, Won a Championship Internationally. “We were all excited to go play and visit Bayamón in San Juan, PR. To Win the tournament just added the icing on the cake.” Stated team Owner ~SirCharles Evans. Everyone was eagerly awaiting their chance to go against Caribbean International competition. For all of them it was a once in a lifetime experience.
The team will enjoy winning this Championship with multiple celebrations throughout Western Mass, such as Parade’s, Award ceremonies, and others. The 413 Elite will be looking to go back next year to defend their title as well.
